Around the World in 38 Days

On 13th April 2012, Chris and I are setting out on a journey which will take us around the world. We will fly directly from London to Singapore, then cruise around the Far East for 3 weeks before sailing across the Pacific Ocean (and the international dateline) and arriving 5 days later in Anchorage, Alaska. From there we will sail down the coast of Alaska until we reach the Canadian city of Vancouver. In Vancouver we will finally board our flight back to London. The adventure will last a total of 38 days during which we will circumnavigate the globe.
During our journey, I will be completing the final 30 days of my 50 day Blogging Challenge. Please log in as often as possible to share the story of our travels.
Here is a taste of our planned activities:

Stay overnight in the Raffles complex in Singapore overlooking the F1 road circuit (shame it isn't race weekend)
Visit the 'real' Grand Palace in Bangkok (fictional location of the set for 'The King and I')
Take a trip to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam
Tour the Vietnamese countryside near Nha Trang and visit local cottage industries and orphanage
Spend a day and a night in Hong Kong
Travel  at over 400 kmph on the Maglev train in Shanghai
Visit the Peace Memorial Park in Nagasaki
Explore the coastal city of Busan in South Korea
Walk a small portion of the Great Wall of China
Take the local tourist bus around the Chinese city of Dalian
Tour the submarine museum in Vladivostok, Russia
View the Japanese countryside and Lake Toya from the Mount Usu Rope Walk
Live through the same day 'twice' as we cross the International dateline
Experience Alaskan wildlife and glaciers in Anchorage and Hubbard Bay
Take a 'whale watching trip' in a glass bottomed boat in Juneau
See North American Indian heritage in the town of Ketchikan
Tour the Canadian city of Vancouver

It feels as if we are fitting a whole 'gap year' experience into 5 weeks.
Please follow our travels if you have time....perhaps even join as a follower or leave a comment.
